but it's not her... Is based on a time in my life when someone tried to fill the shoes of a momunmental role model and inspiring human in my life that is no longer with us. It encompasses the feelings and emotions associated with that time in my life while incorporating flute sounds in a solemn way. As the piece progresses, there are two "emotional breakdown" sections that mimic the sound of someone crying and weeping by utilizing some very interesting non-traditional fingerings. It ends with a statement that is powerful, and full of emotion. This piece would go great on a recital programmed around emotion, new sounds, and of course living composers!
